Aloha Maui

We have now been in Maui for a good 48 hours and are having the time of our lives! We've already met a good handful of people who have offered us jobs, living, and to be our tour guides! Our first night on the island we bar b q'd at a friends place and watched the sunset from the top of Kihei! Breathtaking would be an understatement and pictures don't do it justice. We also got to enjoy a stroll along the beach of Ulua, where we encountered our first whale sighting and not just one whale... lots of them, everywhere! Breaching, spouting, and flipping their tails high out of the ocean! It's whale watching season here! Lucky us! :)

We're still on Cali time, so we were up by 6:30 AM and went on a 5 mile run along the beach. Then we drove from Kihei to Lahaina along the coast on highway 30, which was beautiful! I went to my first interview in Whaler's Village, which went very well! Then we walked to Ka'anapali Beach which is miles of soft sand and crystal clear water. We finally got to put our brand new handy dandy snorkel gear to good use, which was a beautiful blast! We also cliff jumped from one of the most famous attractions, Black Rock! As we were leaving we got to witness the daily cliff diving ceremony off of the cliffs known as Puu Kekaa (Black Rock) which is held every evening at sunset. A cliff diver lights the torches along the cliff, throws a lei in the water, then dives into the ocean!

Let the job and house hunting continue! As well as hiking, underwater adventures, and whatever the day may bring!

Island life is treating us well but we miss you all back at the mainland! Aloha!
