Spring sprung a little over 2 weeks ago, but this frigid Northern Michigan weather has got me thinking winter is far from being over. After spending the past 4 years in Maui and San Diego before that, I can't say I remember what "Spring" is supposed to be like. It's been a month since I left my little paradise... my barefoot beach days are far behind me and it seems like they may never find me again.
All I keep hearing is how this is the most beautiful time of year. It's a rebirth for the Earth. The snow begins to melt, daylight lingers a little longer, and temperature is supposed to be rapidly rising. I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of new plant life. Soon enough these Traverse City streets will be lined in brightly colored cherry blossoms and apples will be bursting from the seams of branches! Tulip bulbs have slowly begun to bloom where snow once deadened the ground and I can see the vibrant vegetation trying to take over.
It's been a long month of transitioning from beach bum to snow bunny, but I keep telling myself this spring can be a rebirth for me too! With an open mind and Earth's cooperation, cold days are soon to be behind me. Just as it feels as though I'll never make it through another day of winter, I can find peace in the fact the spring is on its way. Days will get warmer, flowers will form, and the snow will melt!
